The human body is smart. It knows when to naturally remove toxins. But, due to today’s toxic environment and chemical-laden foods, our digestive system and liver can barely keep up, specifically when it comes to flushing out the fat-soluble toxins.
While it’s easy for the body to flush out water-soluble toxins, the fat-soluble ones, like heavy metals, pesticides, preservatives, food additives, pollutants, plastics and other environmental chemicals, must become water-soluble first, which is difficult if our digestive and detox pathways aren’t working properly.
So how can you know if everything is working smoothly?
It all begins with the Gut Associated Lymphatic Tissue (GALT), which surrounds the entire intestinal tract. Here, lacteals work to absorb and process nutritional and toxic fats. Two things must happen if we want everything to work correctly: the ¼ inch on the inside of the gut wall must have those villi and lacteals functioning well, and the ¼ inch on the outside of the gut cannot be congested.
If the lymphatic system is congested, the natural process of the toxins being processed by the liver and earmarked for elimination is severely compromised.
The Key Symptoms to Look Out For
There are some key symptoms to look out for in terms of a congested GALT affecting the lymphatic system:
- Elimination concerns
- Holding extra weight around your belly
- Skin irritations or itching
- Swollen hands and feet
- Breast swelling and tenderness during the menstrual cycle
- Occasional headaches
- Joint stiffness
Extra Belly Weight
And many factors include poor diet, excessive stress and a history of constipation. Constipation can force the onset of mucus, with too much of it causing frequent diarrhea. The body can appear bloated, specifically carrying extra belly weight.
If mucus is excessive, then toxins, which are typically absorbed into the lymph to be neutralized by immune-boosting white blood cells in more than 500 lymph nodes in the lymphatic system may not happen, in which case the toxins will be directed back to the liver.
An Overwhelmed Liver is a BAD Thing
Simply put, having an “overwhelmed” liver is an entirely bad thing. The liver being congested can result in bile being thick and sludgy, making it harder to break down fatty foods, heavy metals and other fat-soluble toxins. We need optimal bile flow, for instance, in order to keep this organ in good health.
The bile eats up heavy metals, parasites, pesticides, bad bacteria and many other chemicals that can cause issues. If there is enough fiber in the diet, then things should be working properly. But if there is a fiber deficiency, then up to 94 percent of the bile and the toxins it carries will go back to the liver. Thick bile and toxins in the liver pushes the fat-soluble toxins into the bloodstream, which can make their way into the fat cells where they can be stored for many years and cause oxidation and degeneration, which can cause a host of health imbalances.
Burn Fat To Rid The Body of Toxins
To help rid the body of toxins, it is important to burn fat to flush these fat cells out. Proper diet and lifestyle may seem like topics you’ve heard about all too often, but there’s a reason they make their way into so many health articles: proper nutrition, regular exercise and a healthy mindset free of stress, keep the body healthy, including promoting a healthy digestive system, lymph and bile flow.
