Many people avoid bread for all kinds of reasons. Some just want less carbs while others need to avoid gluten.
Well, here’s the good news– You can have your sandwich and eat it too!
We rounded 9 super cool ideas from around the web that give the whole “sandwich idea” without using any bread.
1. Barbecue salmon lettuce wraps
After two exhausting days shuffling around Disneyland like post-apocalyptical zombies, the Nombomb clan made a pledge to relax and unwind today.
For breakfast, I rifled through our hosts’ well-stocked fridge and assembled a quick breakfast. I mashed up a couple of baked yams with leftover masala-spiced barbecue salmon and spooned the mixture into lettuce cups.

2. Red bell pepper sandwich
Yesterday I was in a rush packing a lunch for Evleyn’s field trip. The other kids were having sandwiches and so the teacher asked if I could send some kind of sandwich on gluten free bread or something.
But gluten free bread is still processed rice flour junk food so I opted for grain free crackers instead. I bought those kale, sesame seed things you see in the health food store. But they just crumbled in our fingers.

3. Paleo sweet potato buns
These Paleo sweet potato buns are long overdue!
Dozens of eggs, pounds of coconut flour, several dirty dishes, and piles of tapioca dusted aprons later, I finally came up with a Paleo bun that tastes really good and not so “Paleofied.”

4. Grilled eggplant sandwich
I have been envisioning this Eggplant Sandwich for a while and was just able to find an evening to make it today. It was really easy and really yummy!
I simply grilled two slices of Eggplant on the George Forman then topped one slice with Tomato, Raw Goat Milk Cheese, Basil, Mushroom, & Avocado before broiling it until the cheese melted. One the half was done, I topped it with the other half and sprinkled it with some Balsamic Vinegar.

5. Gluten free tapioca wraps
These wraps are really super easy to make, and (as if you needed more!) the dough can be made ahead of time. Just wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator for a week, or in the freezer for even longer.
If you do freeze the dough, be sure to wrap it in something freezer-safe to avoid freezer burn, and let it defrost overnight in the refrigerator. Then use it straight from the refrigerator. It’s easiest to work with the dough when it’s cold.

6. Plantain tortillas
When I decided to make fajitas with the grassfed flat iron I got at the farmers market this week, I knew I wanted to give it a coffee rub and grill it, but I wasn’t sure about the wrapper. Classic paleo problem, right?
Cauliflower tortillas are delicious, and what I planned to go with on this occasion, until I got to the store and saw the yellow plantains. I wasn’t sure how they’d hold up; I wanted a tortilla that folded without breaking and was sturdy enough to hold the hearty fajita fillings. But I also wanted them to be soft like a homemade corn or flour tortilla. The result?

7. Cucumber subs
I am always looking to switch up lunch. Its fun to think of ways to ” Think outside the sandwich bread”. Sandwich bread is often 90 calories a slice, and full of carbs. We can do better than that, can’t we?
This cucumber sub isn’t the most perfect situation ever, but it works. When I made this cucumber sub, I didn’t anticipate having an entire mouthful of cucumber. I think that this sandwich works much better as an open-faced sandwich, much easier to eat.

8. Tomato avocado burger
First off, don’t think that a burger without a bun is not a burger. The feeling of forfeit is short-lived when you come up with creative ways of filling the gap. And if the new way happens to be healthier too, then it’s a win-win situation.
I’m not trying to say this bunless tomato avocado burger is better than a regular burger. It’s not. Or maybe it is.
Let’s settle this and say that it’s just different. The bun in a burger holds everything together and soaks up the sauces and the juices. The tomato won’t do these things in the exact same way, but it brings a lot of flavor and freshness. Plus, it’s an awesome low carb and gluten-free alternative. It’s also so moist and juicy. Two of the most important features in a burger.

9. Portabella halloumi burgers
I spent several years as a vegetarian, and it’s a lifestyle that still sings to me, calls me even. Contrast that to my husband’s classic Midwestern meat-and-potatoes upbringing, sandwich them together and you’ll find us today where navigating the landscape of real food, and seeking to fuel our four children’s bodies with the best nutrition available, settled quite happily into omnivore status.
Rather than imitating meat, this meatless burger is a play on the whole sandwich with giant portabella mushroom caps as buns and a slice of grilled halloumi takes the place of the burger. These were not only accepted, but devoured and raved about after dinner.

In April, 2009, researchers stunned the medical community when they reported chronic inflammation as the root cause of several major diseases.
See, every year 610,000 people in the U.S. die of heart disease. Cancer claims another 584,000...stroke 130,000...Alzheimer's disease nearly 85,000 — and the list goes on.
Truth is, we now know... chronic inflammation is responsible for 7 out of the top 10 leading causes of death in the United States! Hundreds of studies and scientific reviews prove it.
Fortunately, newer research shows you can prevent-even reverse-most major diseases by "turning off" inflammation. And in our new book, we show you how to do just that.

1) Everyone knows green smoothies are healthy right? Have you heard of a “red” smoothie? If not, check out this story…
2) Forget what you've read about 10-day lemonade cleanses, 7-day detoxes with green juices and Gwyneth's gruel. All you need to do, and this is perfect for Saturday or or anytime really, is a simple 1-day cleanse.
3) This “hidden survival muscle” in your body will boost your energy levels, immune system, sexual function, strength and athletic performance when unlocked.
4) I thought it was virtually impossible for a website to be able to tell me anything even a little bit insightful after only submitting my name and date of birth... I was wrong!
5) Turmeric is amazing. The problem is - It's hard to absorb!
6) Wonder why your stomach still sticks out even though you're hammering the core exercises every day? It's a common myth that bulging belly is due to weak abdominal muscles.
7) Even if you're the most active of athletes, you may still suffer from tight hip flexors due to the amount of time you spend each day planted to a chair.
Enjoy! Let me know how these work out for you. And if you run across anything I've missed please let me know.
